Wife Charged with Homicide after Reporting Husband’s Suicide in Houston

Tu Thien Huynh called the police claiming her 34-year-old husband Steven Hafer had killed himself in their bedroom.

But after interviewing the 29-year-old, officers found suspicious evidence that led them to believe she had shot her husband, according to a statement from the police department in Houston, Texas.

Huynh broke down in court last week as prosecutors told how the shotgun used had been wiped clean, and the trajectory of the bullet did not match a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Attorney Brian Nguyen, who is representing Huynh, said that things may not be as they seem.

“There are some real problems with the state’s case that the DA is unaware of,” he said in a phone call Monday afternoon. “We are extremely confident that at the conclusion of this process the truth will come out and we believe that Ms. Huynh will be cleared of the charges.” – The Houson Chronicle

Tu Huynh is charged with Steven’s murder.
